Wedding Candles or known as Unity Candles are a very recognisable accessory and a tradition in a Wedding Ceremony. This ritual has no religious baring or not known to be affiliated with any religion. The ritual lighting of these candles encompasses the LOVE and UNION between two individuals and are usually lit as part of a civil ceremony, church wedding, destination wedding, pagan weddings. How you wish to have this ritual performed depends how you wish to express the meaning of this old tradition.
The slim candles otherwise known as the taper candles are usually lit by the couple getting married at the beginning of the ceremony, representing their individuality and single life until now; however, there are other alternatives; parents (mums and or dads) or person of great importance to the couple may also light these candles on the behalf of their individual wedding couple.
These two candles are left lit until later in the ceremony, after the exchange of rings, wedding vows and perhaps gifts, the Unity Candle is then lit with both taper candles, combining both flames into one, a promise of LOVE and forever; to cherish each other for eternity.
Your size, shape, style and colour of candle is up to your personal taste and liking.
